El artistaThe artist

Nací en la Ciudad de México y llegué al vitral a los 15 años, de la mano de mi amigo y maestro Iván Labra, quien aún trabaja este arte en la Ciudad de México. Desde entonces llevo más de diez años dedicado al vitral.I was born in Mexico City and came to stained glass at 15, learning from my friend and mentor Iván Labra, who still practises this art in Mexico City. I have now spent more than ten years devoted to it.

En un vitral se puede plasmar cualquier figura que uno imagine. Para mí, crearlo es una forma de sentir: llevar la imaginación al color. Es una destreza que se construye con práctica y delicadeza.Stained glass can hold any figure you can imagine. For me, making it is a way of feeling: turning imagination into colour. It's a skill built through practice and delicacy.

Mi estilo es auténtico, natural e intercultural. Nace de mis vivencias, de las iglesias, de las personas y culturas que he conocido, y de la cosmovisión de México y de los Andes. Me inspiran la naturaleza, las aves, los espíritus de los animales, los árboles y los elementos, y los símbolos ancestrales aztecas, mayas, toltecas, chichimecas, quechuas y preincaicos. Busco que cada pieza sea detallada, mágica y profundamente mía.My style is authentic, natural and intercultural. It grows from my own experiences, from churches, from the people and cultures I've met, and from the worldviews of Mexico and the Andes. I'm inspired by nature and birds, by the spirits of animals, trees and the elements, and by ancestral Aztec, Maya, Toltec, Chichimec, Quechua and pre-Inca symbols. I want every piece to be detailed, magical and deeply my own.

Mi técnica favorita es la cinta de cobre, por su delicadeza y precisión. También trabajo el emplomado tradicional y el vitromosaico.My favourite technique is copper foil, for its delicacy and precision. I also work in traditional leaded glass and glass mosaic.

Hoy vivo y trabajo en Pisac, en el Valle Sagrado, junto a mi esposa Ma'raj.Today I live and work in Pisac, in the Sacred Valley, with my wife Ma'raj.

Marajalan une el nombre de mi esposa, Ma'raj, con el mío. Ma'raj significa ascensión en árabe; Alan, alegría en celta. Juntos forman la ascensión de la alegría, que es justamente lo que un vitral regala a través del color.Marajalan joins my wife's name, Ma'raj, with mine. Ma'raj means ascension in Arabic; Alan means joy in Celtic. Together they become the ascension of joy, which is exactly what stained glass offers through colour.

Creo que un vitral eleva la energía de un espacio. En muchas culturas, la luz y el color se han usado para acercarnos a lo sagrado, desde cualquier cosmovisión. Quiero que al entrar a un lugar con uno de mis vitrales te sientas pleno y en calma, rodeado de luz y de los colores que amas: un espacio con tu propia alegría.I believe stained glass raises the energy of a space. In many cultures, light and colour have been used to bring us closer to the sacred, whatever our worldview. When you enter a room with one of my windows, I want you to feel whole and at peace, surrounded by light and the colours you love: a space that holds your own joy.

Con el diseño aprobado y el 50% restante, corto, encinto o emplomo y armo tu vitral en el taller.Once the design is approved and the remaining 50% is paid, I cut, foil or lead and assemble your piece in the studio.

Te entrego tu vitral. El envío y la instalación se cotizan por separado.I deliver your piece. Shipping and installation are quoted separately.
